Resize images online by exact pixels or percentage with WebAuzar's free image resizer. Change the width and height of JPG, PNG, WebP and other supported images, keep the original aspect ratio when needed, and download the resized image directly from your browser.
Whether you need to resize a photo for a website, social media post, email attachment, document, profile picture or another digital use, you can set the dimensions you need without installing desktop software. If your goal is to reduce both dimensions and file size, resize the image first and then use the image compressor.
Resize a photo in three steps without installing an image editing application.
Select or drag your JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF image into the resizer.
Choose By Dimensions for exact pixels or By Percentage for proportional scaling. Adjust width, height and aspect ratio settings as required.
Click Resize Image for the first resize. After changing settings on a completed result, use Re-Resize Image to apply the new settings.
Once the current settings have been applied, use Download to save the final image.
Use By Dimensions when you know the exact width and height you need. This is useful for website images, profile pictures, thumbnails, forms, documents and design requirements where a specific pixel size is required.
Use By Percentage when you want to scale an image relative to its original dimensions. A 50% resize makes both dimensions half their original values, while 200% doubles them.
Locking the aspect ratio keeps the relationship between width and height consistent. For example, changing a 1920 ร 1080 image to 1280 pixels wide results in 720 pixels high when the same 16:9 ratio is maintained.
The resize settings control how the new image dimensions are calculated. Choosing the right mode before applying the resize helps you get predictable results and avoid unnecessary repeated edits.
Use By Dimensions when you know the exact pixel dimensions required. Enter the target Width and Height, such as 1200 ร 800 px. This is useful for website layouts, profile images, thumbnails, online forms and document requirements where the destination specifies exact pixels.
Use By Percentage when you want to scale the current image relative to its dimensions. For example, 50% reduces both dimensions to half, 75% reduces them to three quarters, 100% keeps the same dimensions, and 200% doubles them.
Width and Height are measured in pixels. If a specific platform or form asks for an exact image size, enter those pixel values directly. When you want to preserve the original proportions, use the aspect ratio lock rather than entering unrelated width and height values.
Aspect ratio locked keeps the relationship between width and height consistent while you adjust the dimensions. For example, a 1920 ร 1080 image has a 16:9 ratio, so changing the width to 1280 keeps the proportional height at 720. Use Aspect ratio free only when you intentionally need a custom width-to-height shape.
After an image has already been resized, changing a resize setting means the current result needs to be processed again. The tool replaces the download action with Re-Resize Image. Apply the new settings first; once the updated resize is complete, Download becomes available again.
A typical workflow is: upload an image โ choose By Dimensions or By Percentage โ set the required values โ apply Resize Image โ review the result โ download it. If you change a setting after resizing, use Re-Resize Image before downloading again. This keeps the downloaded file aligned with the settings currently selected.
The setting you choose depends on whether your requirement is an exact pixel size, proportional scaling or a deliberately different image shape.
| Requirement | Recommended setting | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Exact pixel requirement | By Dimensions | Lets you enter the required width and height directly. |
| Make an image half size | By Percentage โ 50% | Scales both dimensions proportionally. |
| Keep the original shape | Lock Aspect Ratio | Keeps width and height proportional. |
| Intentional custom shape | Aspect ratio free | Allows width and height to be controlled independently. |
| Change settings after a resize | Re-Resize Image | Applies the updated settings before the next download. |
Resize and download are separate actions. The first resize applies your selected settings. After a successful resize, the tool provides a download option. If you change an applicable resize setting, the current result is marked for reprocessing and the download action is replaced by Re-Resize Image. This gives you an opportunity to apply the new settings before saving the updated result.
Different image formats are used for different purposes. JPG is common for photographs, PNG is useful when image details or transparency matter, WebP is widely used for web images, and GIF is commonly used for simple animations. AVIF is another modern image format supported by many current browsers. Choose the format and dimensions that match the destination where your image will be used.
| Format | Common use | Resize consideration |
|---|---|---|
| JPG / JPEG | Photos and web images | Good for reducing photographic dimensions |
| PNG | Graphics, screenshots and transparency | Useful when preserving supported PNG characteristics |
| WebP | Modern web images | Useful for responsive website dimensions |
| GIF | Simple animated or legacy web graphics | Choose dimensions that fit the final display area |
| AVIF | Modern web delivery | Resize according to the target display size |
The correct image size depends on the platform, template or application you are preparing the image for. These examples are commonly used dimensions; always check the current requirements of the destination before publishing.
| Use case | Example dimensions |
|---|---|
| Instagram square post | 1080 ร 1080 px |
| Instagram Story | 1080 ร 1920 px |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 ร 720 px |
| Facebook cover | 820 ร 312 px |
| WhatsApp profile photo | 500 ร 500 px |
| LinkedIn profile photo | 400 ร 400 px |
Image distortion usually happens when width and height are changed independently without respecting the original aspect ratio. For example, a 16:9 photo should normally remain close to the same proportion when it is resized. Turn on Lock Aspect Ratio when you want the new dimensions to follow the original proportions.
If the required output has a different shape, cropping is often a better first step. You can use Crop Image to remove unwanted areas and then resize the resulting image to the required dimensions.
| Task | What changes? | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Resize | Pixel width and height | When an image is too large or does not fit the required dimensions |
| Compress | File size and encoding data | When the image dimensions are suitable but the file is too large |
| Resize + Compress | Dimensions and file size | When you need a smaller image that also fits a target display size |
An online image resizer is useful when you need a specific pixel size quickly and do not want to install desktop editing software. You can resize a photo for a website, social media profile, email attachment, online form, presentation, document or other digital destination directly from a browser.
WebAuzar focuses on simple controls: choose exact dimensions or percentage scaling, use the aspect ratio lock when needed, preview the result, and download the resized image. For supported output formats, you can also combine resizing with format conversion.
Browser-based processing can also be useful for privacy-sensitive images because the resize workflow is performed locally in the browser. Avoid uploading private images to any online service unless you are comfortable with that service's data practices.
WebAuzar's free image resizer lets you change image dimensions by pixels or percentage without needing a desktop image editor. Use the aspect ratio lock to keep proportions consistent, select the available output format when required, and download the resized result when your image is ready.
The tool is useful for resizing photos, website images, social media graphics, profile pictures, thumbnails, document images and other common digital assets. When you need to reduce the final file size as well, combine resizing with image compression.
Answers to common questions about resizing images online, exact pixel dimensions, aspect ratios, formats and image quality.
WebAuzar's resize page supports common image formats including JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF. The exact formats available for output depend on the options provided by the image resizer.
Upload your image and choose By Dimensions. Enter the target width and height in pixels. Keep Lock Aspect Ratio enabled when you want the image to remain proportional instead of being stretched or squashed.
Choose By Percentage and set the scale you need. For example, 50% creates an image at half the original width and height, while 200% doubles both dimensions.
Lock Aspect Ratio keeps the original width-to-height relationship. When you change one dimension, the other dimension is adjusted proportionally to help prevent distortion.
Yes. Upload the JPG, choose the required pixel dimensions or percentage, keep the aspect ratio locked if needed, and resize the image directly in your browser.
Yes. PNG images can be resized by dimensions or percentage. PNG is useful when you need to retain image details or transparency in the supported workflow.
Yes. Upload a WebP image and choose the required dimensions or percentage. You can also use the available output format option when you need a different supported format.
Resizing always changes the number of pixels. Downscaling generally retains detail well when the new dimensions are reasonable, while enlarging an image can make it look softer because the original file does not contain additional detail. Use the available quality controls for supported output formats.
Use the Lock Aspect Ratio option and change one dimension at a time. The resizer can then calculate the corresponding dimension from the original proportions.
Yes. Enter the pixel dimensions required for your Instagram image, such as 1080 ร 1080 pixels for a square image, then resize and download the result.
Upload the image and enter the dimensions you need for your WhatsApp profile, status or shared image. The correct dimensions depend on how you plan to use the image.
Yes. Resize large photos to dimensions appropriate for the space where they will appear. If the goal is also to reduce the file size, use WebAuzar's Compress Image tool after resizing.
Yes. The online image resizer can be used from a modern Android or iPhone browser. Upload the photo, set the dimensions or percentage, and download the resized file.
Yes. WebAuzar provides this image resizing tool online for free. No software installation is required to use the browser-based workflow.
The page is designed for browser-based image processing, so the resize operation is performed on your device rather than requiring a server-side upload for the image processing workflow.
Yes. By Dimensions mode lets you enter a target width and height in pixels. If you want to preserve the original proportions, keep the aspect ratio lock enabled.
Yes. A 1920ร1080 image and a 1280ร720 image share the same 16:9 aspect ratio, so you can enter 1280 as the target width while keeping the aspect ratio locked to maintain 720 pixels in height.
Resizing changes the image's pixel dimensions, such as from 3000ร2000 to 1500ร1000. Compression primarily reduces the file size in bytes by changing encoding or quality. You may use both when you need a smaller image that also has suitable dimensions.
Yes. The available output format options allow supported conversions such as JPEG, PNG or WebP while resizing, so you can combine dimension changes and format conversion in one workflow.
Yes. The resize interface provides an Undo Resize action after a resize operation, allowing you to return to the previous image state and adjust the settings again.
By Dimensions lets you enter an exact width and height in pixels. By Percentage scales the current image relative to its current dimensions, such as 50% for half size or 200% for double size.
The aspect ratio setting controls whether width and height stay proportional. When the aspect ratio is locked, changing one dimension calculates the other dimension from the same proportion to help prevent stretching.
After a resize is completed, changing an applicable resize setting marks the current result as needing another resize. The download action is replaced by Re-Resize Image so the new settings can be applied before downloading.
No. Changing between By Dimensions and By Percentage changes the editing mode. You then apply the new settings with Re-Resize Image before downloading the updated result.
Yes. The resize workflow can be applied again to the current resized result. This is useful when you want to make a second size adjustment instead of returning to the original dimensions.
Download is available after the resize operation has completed and the current settings have been applied. If you change a resize setting afterward, apply Re-Resize Image first and then download the updated result.
Upload an image above, configure the resize settings you need, apply the resize, review the result, and download it. If you change a setting afterward, use Re-Resize Image before downloading the updated result.
